The head of Polish diplomacy is on a visit to Washington, D.C., where on 26 February he will meet with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The talks will primarily focus on economic, security and other cooperation between Poland and the United States, the war in Ukraine, and preparations for this year’s Washington NATO summit.
Also, the agenda of Minister Sikorski’s Washington visit includes talks with other representatives of the US administration, namely US President’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines. The minister will also meet with Senators Mark Warner and Christopher Murphy. The meetings will focus on security cooperation, the necessity for the US to continue to support combatant Ukraine financially, and the current situation in the latter country.
Minister Sikorski will be a keynote speaker at Three Steps to Victory, a speech and debate event at the Atlantic Council think-tank, presenting arguments in favour of the need to support Ukraine in the war and the necessity for close cooperation on the matter in the West.
While in Washington, the head of Polish diplomacy spoke with General James Mattis, a former US secretary of defence. Also, the minister presented Colonel Romuald Lipiński, a Monte Cassino veteran and long-time activist of the Polish diaspora, with a Bene Merito distinction.
