Minister Radosław Sikorski’s further talks with heads of diplomacies

In a next round of phone conversations, Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski spoke on Friday with his Spanish and Romanian counterparts.
Minister Sikorski and the head of Spanish MFA José Manuel Albares congratulated each other on their recent appointments. They underlined their satisfaction with the very good Polish-Spanish relations to date and expressed hope for prompt intergovernmental consultations. Radosław Sikorski appreciated Spain’s support for Ukraine. He also congratulated Minister Albares on the successfully managed rotating presidency of the EU Council, particularly on the effectiveness of the efforts to launch accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. Notably, the conversation was took place one day after the adoption of European Council’s historic conclusions bringing Ukraine and Moldova closer to EU membership.
During his call with Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Luminița-Teodora Odobescu, the head of the Polish MFA discussed bilateral cooperation and as part of NATO’s eastern flank.
Yesterday’s conversation with Belgium’s Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib was an opportunity to discuss the country’s plans for its EU Council presidency, particularly in the context of further support for Ukraine and the strengthening of European security.
The call with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on Thursday mainly focused on EU’s financial and military support for Ukraine. The head of European diplomacy congratulated Radosław Sikorski on his appointment and expressed hope for close cooperation.
