The major topic was continued coordination of allies’ efforts as part of NATO, the EU, and the OSCE against the backdrop of tensions around Ukraine caused by Russia’s escalation of the situation, including the deployment of large Russian forces also into Belarus. Antony Blinken briefed his counterparts on his call with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The participants discussed the steps taken recently by the international community and measures which will follow shortly.

As the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Zbigniew Rau summed up the recent developments and noted the continued buildup of Russian forces around Ukraine despite the diplomatic efforts of the United States and other NATO and EU states. At the OSCE forum, he pointed out the actions that Polish diplomacy plans to take in the coming days.
