Minister Zbigniew Rau attended international conference on Belarus
22.11.2021
On 22 November 2021 Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in a high-level conference organised in Vienna by Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg.
Due to pandemic restrictions in Austria, the meeting was held as a video conference. Its aim was to discuss possible ways of resolving the political crisis in Belarus, bringing about the launch of dialogue between the state authorities and democratic opposition, and facilitating Belarus’s return on the path to democratisation. Minister Rau underlined that supporting Belarus’s independence and sovereignty, protecting the civil rights of its citizens, and securing? the release of all political prisoners remain Poland’s and the EU’s main goals.
“As a transatlantic community, we do not recognise Alexander Lukashenko as president and we should not do it in the future. There is no way to come back to business as usual as was the case after the previous so-called elections. The regime has yet become more archaic and the society more determined. Our solidarity and our resilience is a harbinger of victory for Belarusians,” said Minister Rau.
