“Over recent months, our relations have been very intensive, which reflects the dynamic developments in our countries, in Europe and globally. The Czech Republic remains Poland’s strategic neighbour,” said Minister Zbigniew Rau in a conversation with the Czech Republic’s Foreign Minister Tomaš Petříček.
The talks covered bilateral issues, regional cooperation (the Visegrad Group – V4, Three Seas Initiative), as well as the developments in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, and several items of the European agenda. Moreover, the ministers underlined the importance of good relations with partners in the USA, also in the context of European security. The heads of diplomacy also discussed the prospects of developing mutual bilateral relations and the future of regional cooperation under international conditions caused by Covid-19.
The visit by the head of Czech diplomacy fell on the eve of the Visegrad Group’s 30th anniversary. The jubilee presents an opportunity to sum up and start new projects for the future. The ministers used the opportunity to discuss nearest events to mark Poland’s V4 presidency. In relation to regional cooperation, the diplomats mentioned the Three Seas Initiative, which is interesting for the Czech side in the context of developing strategic infrastructural projects in the region.
