Minister Zbigniew Rau meets with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó

“Our meeting proves that the dialogue between Poland and Hungary is very intensive,” stressed the chief of Polish diplomacy during his talks with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó. The ministers focused on the development of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of experience on vaccination against COVID-19.
One of key topics of the meeting was the development of regional cooperation. “Poland, as the country currently holding the presidency of the Visegrad Group, particularly stresses the importance of good coordination of cooperation between the countries of the region,” noted the head of Polish diplomacy. “The Visegrad Group has been operating for 30 years. This anniversary offers a unique opportunity to take stock of our actions and to develop joint projects for the future,” he added. The officials discussed plans of the Polish presidency of the V4, including celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the Visegrad Group, as well as V4 infrastructure projects (Via Carpathia). The two diplomats also talked about development cooperation, including the Polish-Hungarian humanitarian project in Jordan. Moreover, they addressed key issues related to Eastern policy, including the developments in Belarus and Ukraine.
