On 20 September, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers. The meeting was held on the margins of the UNGA General Debate in New York.

The discussion focused on the situation in Afghanistan. Referring to the conclusions reached at the informal Gymnich meeting (Slovenia, 2-3 Sept. 2021), the ministers continued talks on the criteria for the EU’s further involvement in Afghanistan and on the EU’s dialogue with partners in the region, with a view to, among others, preventing the migration crisis at EU borders and the spread of terrorism.
