“Africa will become an attractive trade partner and its relatively young society will have a great need of knowledge and high technologies. The African Continental Free Trade Area that is being implemented will facilitate trade between the European Union and Africa and will create new possibilities also for Polish businesses,” Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said while opening the 2nd Conference for Africa titled “Africa - development directions”.
The debate, organized by the Polish Advantages Institute on 9-10 October at the headquarters of the Łódź Special Economic Zone, focused on economic cooperation, security, education and development.
“Polish entrepreneurs have a lot to offer to Africa: from construction, infrastructure, and transport, through IT, marine economy, green technologies to waste recycling,” emphasized Minister Rau.
The Polish top diplomat highlighted Poland’s commitment to development assistance and humanitarian aid for African countries provided not only through the EU and UN programmes, but also with significant participation of Polish non-governmental organizations. He said that along with business activities and local authorities’ efforts, Poland needs to promote grassroots initiatives, academic cooperation and people-to-people contacts to be more visible and build a positive image in Africa.
