10.11.2022
On 9-10 November, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau travelled to Paris.
The programme included a meeting with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna. They spoke about strengthening economic and political cooperation, redoubling efforts to support Ukraine, and tightening sanctions against Russia. Also raised was the issue of Polish-French cooperation in civil nuclear energy.
Minister Rau was among the guests at events to mark Remembrance Day in Paris. In his address, he highlighted the centuries-old brotherhood links between the Polish and French nations, and encouraged France to co-create, together with Poland, a new European order based on an alliance of free, equal and loyal nations. Poland’s top diplomat also spoke with Hungarian President Katalin Novák, who was present at the ceremony.
During his visit, Minister Rau also spoke with Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, President of the MEDEF, an association of French entrepreneurs. The interlocutors discussed preparations for the Polish-French Economic Forum in Kraków, as well as the involvement of Polish and French actors in the future reconstruction of Ukraine.
While in France, Foreign Minister Rau also visited the Polish Library in Paris, a cultural centre remarkable for preserving Polish cultural heritage.
