Poland has been involved in the Global Coalition’s work from the moment the group was set up. In his speech, Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz reaffirmed that Poland will maintain its military and non-military engagement in the Coalition’s work in order to restore stability in Iraq and Syria and prevent the revival of the so-called Islamic State. In this context, the head of the Polish delegation pointed to the presence of the Polish military contingent in Iraq as well as to various support measures that have recently focused on assisting the local authorities in the fight against the pandemic.
Like other participants of the meeting, Deputy Minister Przydacz also noted with concern the growing threats posed by terrorist groups in Africa. These threats are particularly serious in the Sahel countries.
The deputy chief of Polish diplomacy stressed the need to coordinate the international community’s efforts with the local authorities and regional cooperation structures.
A joint communiqué was adopted by the ministers at the end of the meeting, reaffirming the Coalition’s determination to eliminate Daesh, to stabilise areas that were liberated from the terrorists, and to combat threats in other regions of the world, particularly in Africa.
