Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Health on new safe travel rules

10.07.2021

On Saturday, Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk and Deputy Health Minister Maciej Miłkowski held a press briefing at the MFA on the amendment to the so-called epidemic regulation – Regulation of the Council of Ministers of March 19, 2021 on the establishment of certain restrictions, orders and bans in relation to state of the epidemic (Journal of Laws, items 512 and 546 as amended). Among other topics, quarantine exemption rules for persons arriving to Poland were presented at the briefing.

As the MFA deputy head noticed, the first amendment to the regulation introduces an obligation for those arriving to Poland to fill in the so-called digital passenger locator form. If you travel by air, for instance, it will be also possible to complete a relevant paper-based form available from the flight crew. “Submitting this form will be one of the conditions to enter the Republic of Poland,” highlighted Deputy Minister Wawrzyk.

In his address, the deputy head of diplomacy underlined that pursuant to the second amendment to the regulation, from 10 July on, a 10-day quarantine shall be lifted for persons returning from countries that agreed with Poland on travel rules related to the SARS-CoV-2 restrictions. So far, quarantine exemptions have applied to persons returning from the EU and Schengen states.

Deputy Minister Wawrzyk reminded that the above mentioned rules apply to non-vaccinated persons, since those fully vaccinated (with Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson&Johnson vaccines) are not subject to quarantine on their arrival to Poland. At the same time, the deputy chief of the Polish MFA reiterated his appeal to postpone non-essential foreign travel.

Deputy Minister of Health Maciej Miłkowski mentioned Turkey as one of the countries that have agreed on a joint declaration on tourist cooperation with Poland. The memorandum creates a framework to ensure travel safety by both parties. “All persons that are healthy will be able to enter Poland without undergoing a 10-day-long quarantine,” clarified Deputy Minister Maciej Miłkowski. Updated information on countries that will enter into such agreements with Poland will be made available to the public on the MFA website and in the Public Information Bulletin.
