15.03.2021

- The cooperation agreement concluded today between the MFA and the Polish Economic Institute is another step towards strengthening the international potential of Polish economy and the presence of Polish companies on foreign markets - said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński during the signing ceremony. On behalf of the Polish Economic Institute the document was signed by its Director, Piotr Arak.

- Last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the related restrictions, Polish exporters did really well. Our trade surplus reached a record high of PLN 54 billion - noted the deputy minister. - Such a good result was also due to the support for Polish companies by the MFA’s economic diplomacy and other state institutions. Thanks to the institute’s specialist knowledge and professional analyses of its experts, we will be able to provide the support more effectively than ever - emphasised Deputy Minister Jabłoński.

The Polish Economic Institute will conduct analyses and expert studies for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on subjects such as the current condition and changes to the global economic situation and their implications for the Polish economy, long-term trends of Polish exports and investments, the condition of the Polish exports sector, the conditions of international trade, and Poland’s activity in international economic organisations and regional integration groupings.

New global challenges, for instance those related to the pandemic, are also a chance to restructure the Polish economy and take advantage of new opportunities, also on foreign markets. In order to be effective, state institutions need top-quality analyses of the economic reality and have to continuously search for new opportunities for our business. The Polish Economic Institute provides that expert knowledge and allows us to better help Polish businesses to adapt to changing conditions, for them to be economically successful not just today, but also to build their market position in the decades to come - pointed out the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy.

The deputy minister added that one of integral elements of the system supporting Polish exporters and investors is providing them with up-to-date and reliable information on the global economic situation, development forecasts for different economic sectors, as well as opportunities for cooperation with foreign clients. It is especially important nowadays, when contacts with business partners are restricted and the majority of regional and international economic events were either cancelled or postponed until after the pandemic.
