31.03.2020

The Reflection Group was created following a decision made by NATO leaders during a meeting in London in December 2019. The reflection process, carried out under the auspices of the NATO Secretary General, is to conclude by the next meeting of heads of state and government in 2021. Acting in the spirit of unity, cohesion and solidarity within the Alliance, and operating under the joint chairmanship of the United States and Germany, the group will offer recommendations aimed at facilitating the consultation and coordination process between Allies and strengthening NATO’s political role in tackling threats coming from all strategic directions.

By actively participating in the group’s work, Poland will help shape the directions of changes within the Alliance and make an important contribution to the strategic discussion, based on our experience and determination in strengthening Euro-Atlantic security.

Apart from the Polish representative, other members of the NATO expert group include: Greta Bossenmaier (Canada), Anja Dalgaard-Nielsen (Denmark), Hubert Védrine (France), Thomas de Maizière (Germany – co-chair), Marta Dassù (Italy), Herna Verhagen (The Netherlands), Tacan Ildem (Turkey), John Bew (United Kingdom), and Wess Mitchell (United States – co-chair).
