The Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe met with Mongolia’s President Uchnaagijn Chürelsüch, Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg, and other high-ranking public officials.
Poland’s chief diplomat emphasised that the Organization recognises Mongolia’s political and constitutional reform processes, which include substantial achievements in terms of human rights, civil liberties and duties, as well as institutional responsibilities in line with the OSCE commitments. He encouraged the country to enhance cooperation with the Organization and to benefit from its potential in implementing further changes.
While congratulating Mongolia on the tenth anniversary of its membership of the OSCE, Minister Rau noted that the current turbulence undermining the region’s stability makes it even more important for all members of the Organization to act together for the sake of peace and security.
“My visit has coincided with serious security challenges the Organization is now facing. We shall not forget that the OSCE was established to prevent wars and deescalate tensions. I am deeply convinced that we must revert to that original goal by fully adhering to the principles laid down in Helsinki Accords and to the unique culture of cooperation developed by the OSCE over nearly five decades. We are looking forward to a continued fruitful cooperation with our Mongolian partners in the pursuit of that goal,” said the minister.
During the visit, Poland’s top diplomat also talked about bilateral cooperation, hoping for its development, especially in such fields as economy, science, and culture.
