12.08.2020
On 12 August, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz held a phone talk with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi. The diplomats discussed bilateral relations between Poland and Jordan and the current situation in the region. The phone call was arranged on the initiative of the Jordanian side.
The ministers expressed their satisfaction with the state of relations between the two countries and focused on development cooperation, their contacts within the Global Coalition to defeat Daesh/ISIS, and the presence of the Polish Military Contingent in Jordan. The officials also discussed prospects for future bilateral relations.
Minister Czaputowicz praised the positive role Jordan plays in the region, including in the Middle East peace process. For his part, Minister Safadi thanked Poland for its consistent support for the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on a two-state solution.
When talking about the current developments in Lebanon, Minister Czaputowicz confirmed Poland’s assistance for the country. The two diplomats agreed that the international community needs to be actively engaged in helping Lebanon in the face of the present challenges.
Jordan is one of the key countries in the Middle East for Polish humanitarian aid. In 2020, Caritas Poland and the Polish Medical Mission have been carrying out two projects under the ‘Humanitarian Aid in the Middle East’ call for proposals. The projects received funding of PLN 1.2 million and include actions to support the medical sector, schools, and communities struggling with the Syrian refugee crisis.
