Polish candidate for OECD Secretary-General is presented

Today, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński held a video conference with ambassadors accredited to Poland from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member states. The meeting was organized to present the Polish candidate to the position of the OECD Secretary-General, Michał Kurtyka, PhD, Poland’s incumbent Minister of Climate and Environment.
During the conference, the candidate outlined his vision of the Organisation’s development and the goals he would like to achieve as its Secretary-General. Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński briefed the participants on plans related to presenting the Polish candidate to the representatives of the OECD member states’ authorities.
On 27 October 2020, Permanent Representative of Poland to the OECD, Ambassador Aleksander Surdej officially proposed Michał Kurtyka, PhD, for the position of the OECD Secretary-General.
The OECD is an international economic organisation seated in Paris, established in 1961. Poland has been a member since 1996. The OECD’s mission is to search for and promote best political and economic solutions to improve the quality of life of people across the world. The Organisation also runs research and conceptual works focusing on key social and economic issues.
