“We are truly satisfied with the development of relations between our countries. We see their immense potential, particularly in the economic area. We are also interested in the Iraqi view of the ongoing processes in the Middle East,” said Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński during political consultations held on a regular basis with our Iraqi partners under the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq of 25 November 2016.
Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq Moayad Saleh discussed bilateral cooperation and the current developments in Iraq and the Middle East.
The Iraqi side expressed their gratitude for Poland’s engagement in the rebuilding of security in Iraq under the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh and the NATO mission in Iraq. Minister Moayad Saleh underlined his interest in learning about the Polish experiences of fighting financial crime and money laundering, which is important for Iraq in the context of combating the financing of terrorism.
“After decades of hardship, Iraq wants to live in peace. We hope to keep developing friendly relations with all our neighbours,” underlined the deputy head of Iraqi diplomacy.
