14.12.2020
“The State of Qatar is one of Poland’s closest and trusted partners in the Middle East. Our positive experience related to the LNG import from Qatar should soon pay off in the form of fruitful trade and investment cooperation, as well as in other fields of economy and business,” said Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński following a meeting with his Qatari counterpart Ahmad Hassan Al-Hamadi.
The Monday’s consultations focused on political and economic bilateral cooperation and security in the Middle East and Europe, prospects to solve the Qatar diplomatic crisis, as well as the developments in Belarus and Ukraine. “We appreciate Qatar’s role in the process of rebuilding trust and peace between the conflicted parties in Afghanistan,” stated Deputy Minister Jabłoński.
Key points of the agenda also included cooperation of the two countries at international fora and in the field of fighting global terrorism and extremism. Deputy Minister Jabłoński thanked Qatar for its participation in the third edition of the Ministerial on Advancing Freedom of Religion or Beliefs that was organised by Poland on 16-17 November 2020.
Regular consultation meetings at the level of deputy foreign ministers of Poland and Qatar were initiated under the memorandum of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries, signed on 21 April 1998, and are held alternately in Warsaw and Doha. Previous consultations took place in Warsaw on 16 April 2019.
