07.07.2021

“Poland, as Ukraine’s friend, will continue to support Kyiv in carrying out its reforms. With the assistance of the international community and thanks to its own commitment, through the undertaken reform efforts, Ukraine will strengthen its internal stability and boost its resilience to external challenges,” said Minister Zbigniew Rau during the fourth edition of the Ukraine Reform Conference in Vilnius.

The head of the Polish MFA took part in the the fourth edition of the event organised since 2017. The conference is attended by representatives of states, international organisations, business, civil society, and experts who are involved in supporting the reform process in Ukraine. The meeting took place in extraordinary circumstances. The COVID-19 pandemic, which hit Ukraine particularly hard, remains a challenge for Kyiv to continue its reform efforts. Due to the escalation threat in eastern Ukraine, the conference message resounded even more strongly. The continuation of reforms is closely linked to strengthening Ukraine’s internal stability and resilience to external challenges.

After the conference, the chief of Polish diplomacy visited Rasos Cemetery, where he laid flowers at the Mother and the Heart of Her Son Mausoleum and the Chapel of January Uprising Participants.

Next, Minister Rau went to Eišiškės, where he met with the representatives of the local Polish community and laid flowers at the memorial to the January Uprising insurgents. Zbigniew Rau also visited Jan Śniadecki Gymnasium in Šalčininkai and met with Poles living in Jašiūnai at the renovated Jašiūnai Manor.
