I would like to express satisfaction that through all these years we have developed strong ties of friendship, and our cooperation, both bilateral and within the EU, has been successful.”

“This year’s anniversary will help to add even more momentum to our contacts. I hope that the epidemic situation will allow us to personally welcome Cyprus’s Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides in Warsaw in the spring,” said Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk during a video conference with his Cypriot counterpart Kornelios S. Korneliou. Deputy Minister Korneliou underlined his willingness to further regular dialogue with Poland which would allow for an enhanced exchange of opinions on issues where they diverge due to the two countries’ location in different parts of Europe.

Cypriot deputy minister was satisfied that Cyprus is one of Polish tourists’ favourite holiday destinations and hoped that the epidemic situation allows Cyprus to welcome numerous guests from Poland in next holiday season.

Bilateral relations have also been raised during the conversation. “We are very pleased with the prospects of cooperation with Cyprus in such areas as digitisation, cybersecurity, science, education and culture,” noted Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk.

The agenda also included the EU-Turkey relations in the context of the discussion to be held during the European Council’s March meeting, the situation in Russia and Belarus, as well as the Common Foreign and Security Policy, and relations with NATO. Deputy Minister Korneliou presented Cyprus’s point of view of the so-called 5+1 conference scheduled in April (representatives of both Cypriot communities, Greece, Turkey, Great Britain and the UN) to discuss restarting negotiations on the Cyprus issue.
