Seminar “Remembrance, Understanding, Future” for youth from Western Balkans, Poland, and Germany
10.12.2024
Another edition of the “Remembrance, Understanding, Future” seminar is due to start on 10 December 2024. Representatives of the young generation from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, as well as from Poland and Germany will attend the meeting in Krzyżowa and Wrocław.
The aim of the seminar is to showcase the experience of Polish-German reconciliation after the Second World War in order to inspire the representatives of the civil society in their respective countries to overcome divisions and foster mutual understanding in hope of building a common European future.
This year’s seminar is its fourth edition; the previous ones took place from 2017 to 2019. In 2020, the seminar was suspended due to the pandemic. This year’s edition will take place thanks to the joint initiative of the foreign ministries of Poland and Germany.
The initiative to revive this project was noted and highlighted in the Joint Declaration on Reaffirming Good Neighbourly Relations and Regional Cooperation on the Occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the Berlin Process adopted during this format’s summit in Berlin on 14 October 2024. The said document encourages countries to support youth initiatives, such as “the renewed German-Polish Western Balkans initiative in Krzyżowa/Kreisau” and to support youth exchange and reconciliation between young persons from the Western Balkans and partner countries.
