Statement on MFA measures to address the situation of persons staying in Belarus near Usnar Dolnyy
27.08.2021
In connection with the situation of a group of persons staying in the territory of Belarus near the village of Usnar Dolnyy at the border with Poland, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs yet again sent a diplomatic note to Belarusian authorities on 27 August, in which it reiterated its offer to immediately provide those persons with material aid and requested approval for a humanitarian convoy, waiting at the Bobrowniki border crossing point, to enter the Republic of Belarus.
Guided by humanitarian concerns and bearing in mind the decision of the European Court of Human Rights of 25 August, the Polish MFA has also called on the authorities of the Republic of Belarus to urgently provide the migrants staying in its territory with food, water, clothing, access to sanitation, and appropriate medical care, as indicated by the ECHR in its decision.
The Polish authorities are at the same time in regular contact with international partners, including representatives of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Warsaw and Minsk, with a view to jointly working out a legal and effective way to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches the migrants staying in the territory of Belarus.
