07.01.2021

Poland welcomes the agreement concluded between the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates) and Egypt on the full normalization of relations during the Council summit in the Saudi city of Al-Ula on January 5th. We similarly welcome Saudi Arabia's decision of January 4th on the reopening of borders with Qatar.

The agreement is a landmark step towards restoring unity in the Gulf Region, which is crucial for security and stability in the region. We express our appreciation for the mediation efforts of Kuwait and the United States. Poland is ready to support further regional integration of the Gulf Cooperation Council and to strengthen long-term partnership with all its members, both in the framework of bilateral cooperation and on the forum of the European Union. Moreover, we express our hope that the stakeholders' efforts to further develop mutual relations in the spirit of partnership and good neighborly relations will continue.
