Undersecretary of State Henryka Mościcka – Dendys takes part in I Congress of Internationalisation of Polish Science

The event was held on 13 May 2024 in Gdańsk under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The Congress was inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Science Professor Andrzej Szeptycki, who highlighted the efforts of the Polish academia to internationalise Polish science in a smart way.
Deputy Minister Mościcka-Dendys attended a panel on a strategy to recruit students from abroad. She elaborated on the impact of our country's visa policy on shaping responsible strategy for the internationalisation of science, aimed to uild up the reputation and level of education at univerities in Poland. The undersecretary of state pointed out that foreign students should be recruited in line with the state's migration policy implemented by means of a relevant visa policy following the priorities set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She also noted the importance of state security and public order, which should be taken into consideration when deciding on the conditions and volume of recruitment of foreigners to study in Poland. The Ministry of Interior and Administration and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education also presented their positions on the subject.
Held on 13-14 May 2024 at the Medical University of Gdańsk, the I Congress provides space for a comprehensive debate with the academia on the shape of national strategy of internationalisation of higher education. For two consecutive days, several hundred people, including representatives of Polish foreign universities, national councils and state authorities, as well as lecturers and researchers discussed the ways to internationalise education at auniversities in Poland.
