Video conference of Polish and Hungarian foreign ministers

“Poland and Hungary are reliable partners, also during the difficult moments in history. Mutual support is fundamental for our actions to combat the pandemic to be efficient,” said Minister Jacek Czaputowicz on Tuesday during a video conference with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó
The ministers mainly discussed bilateral cooperation development in the context of COVID-19 and the exchange of experiences and good practices of fighting the pandemic. Minister Jacek Czaputowicz presented the supporting measures for Polish entrepreneurs introduced by the government to counteract the economic slowdown caused by the virus. The government’s anti-crisis shield amounts to EUR 47 billion and offers comprehensive protection for both the economy and citizens. Minister Szijjártó thanked Poland for helping 38 Hungarians return home under the #LOTDoDomu programme.
The officials also talked about possible export and purchasing of protection equipment manufactured in both countries, including disinfectants made in Poland. Other points on the agenda were the conclusions from the NATO foreign ministers video conference (2 April) and the EU foreign ministers video conference (3 April). Also discussed was regional cooperation, including the Three Seas Initiative and the Eastern Partnership. The two countries’ top diplomats stressed the importance of cooperation within the Visegrad Group for the development of the whole region, which is currently being put to the test by the coronavirus epidemic.
