Referring to the previous solidarity measures offered by the Polish community and Poles abroad, the deputy minister called for reviving the so-called Polonia 4 Neighbours campaign in the face of the second wave of the coronavirus and as part of measures to prevent the effects of the pandemic. He declared that our compatriots abroad can count on cooperation with Polish embassies and consulates. Launched in April, the campaign and activity of our compatriots—who in response to the coronavirus pandemic mobilised and provided assistance and support to people and communities outside Poland—confirmed the enormous potential of social activities in local communities.
The deputy minister called on all Polish diaspora communities worldwide to resume social activity, locally and in public life, in their countries of residence, and asked for taking socially purposeful, local solidarity measures which respond to the epidemic situation and help noble causes.
The idea behind #Polonia4Neighbours was that the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs wanted to support the Polish diaspora communities in the belief that our compatriots abroad are the best ambassadors of Poland. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its missions, has so far donated over PLN 90,000 for assistance measures, which helped our compatriots abroad to carry out 163 projects. The solidarity measures of the Polish diaspora and its activities as part of the action took place in nearly 40 countries on four continents, among others in Venezuela, Tanzania, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, and Mexico as well as in New Zealand, Australia, Ukraine, Spain, Iceland, the USA, and Canada.
