"People are at the center of the Polish vision of a stable and prosperous neighborhood of the EU. Long-lasting interpersonal ties with the Eastern Partnership and the countries of the Western Balkans are an integral part of any ambitious political project. The neighborhood and enlargement policy goes beyond political agreements, free trade zones and visa-free travel." Polish diplomacy Zbigniew Rau.
Commissioner Varhelyi emphasized in his speech that supporting young people from the Eastern Partnership countries and the Western Balkans remains one of the EU's main objectives under the neighborhood and enlargement policy.

The aim of the conference was to draw attention to the challenges facing the EU related to the need to activate young people from the neighborhood countries and to support their participation in public life.

The event took place on the 101st anniversary of the birth of St. John Paul II, who perfectly understood the aspirations of young people from countries that applied for EU membership, being a leading advocate of European integration.
