EU ministers discuss the EU’s energy situation. Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta participates in the Energy Council

Energy aid for Ukraine ahead of the winter season, the shift away from fuel from Russia, energy prices or the importance of the energy sector for EU competitiveness - these were the topics discussed by EU ministers at a meeting of the Energy Council (TTE). The meeting, held on October 15, 2024 in Luxembourg, was attended by Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta.
During the meeting, EU energy ministers held a discussion on the importance of the energy sector to the competitiveness of the European Union. The discussion referred to the recommendations of Mario Draghi's report on European competitiveness and the future of the European Union (the so-called Draghi Report).
Winter readiness
The ministers discussed support for Ukraine and its energy sector during the coming winter. Representatives of EU member states were briefed on the situation in Ukraine by Ukraine's Energy Minister German Galushenko, who outlined the scale of damage to energy infrastructure done by Russia.
The state of the energy union and the REPowerEU plan
Representatives of EU member states also listened to the European Commission’s report on the state of the energy union and information on the implementation of the REPowerEU plan and possible further steps regarding the transition away from fuels from Russia.
Bilateral meetings
On the sidelines of the TTE Council, Minister Bolesta took part in meetings with representatives of EU member states, including the ministers of Latvia, Germany and Greece, among others.
