The structured cooperation (PESCO), work on the EU's strategic compass as well as the exchange of views with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg were the main topics of the Foreign Affairs Council (Defence). Poland was represented by the Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.

In the context of work on the strategic compass, the discussion focused on issues related to increasing the effectiveness of operational engagement and better preparation of the EU for future crises.

During a working lunch with the NATO Secretary General, the ministers emphasized the role and the importance of complementarity of EU and NATO activities in the area of ​​security and defense.

In addition, defense ministers discussed the security situation in the region of Ukraine, the Sahel and Mozambique.
