Ministers exchanged views on the measures taken so far, at both EU and national levels, and the way forward towards a gradual lifting of containment measures.

In addition, there was a debate on the recovery plan published by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission. The plan will form the basis for discussions between heads of state and government during a video conference scheduled for April 23.

The European Commission also announced that by the end of this month, it will publish its amended work programme. The changes will aim at expanding the range of priority proposals in relation to the situation caused by the COVID-19 and also postponing proposals that are not urgent for the nearest future.
