Informal meeting of European affairs ministers

The de-escalation of containment measures introduced in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic, budgetary issues and the Conference on the Future of Europe were the main topics of the meeting of ministers for European affairs held in the form of video conference. Poland was represented by Minister Konrad Szymański.

During the meeting, EU ministers held an exchange of views on a comprehensive approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, ministers provided their views on the economic and social recovery of the EU. They outlined their expectations regarding adjustments to the next multiannual financial framework to take into account the new realities and as regards the planned recovery fund. Ministers also drew attention to the need to modify the assumptions of the Conference on the Future of Europe in order to develop a mandate for inter-institutional talks and to adapt the concept to new conditions.
 
Under "any other business", the European Commission announced the next procedural steps related to the preparation of the first annual report on the rule of law in the EU.
