International Holocaust Remembrance Day - commemoration in Brussels
27.01.2021
The testimonies of the last surviving prisoners of Auschwitz and the prayers for the memory of the victims were the main points of the commemoration event organized by the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The event was held in cooperation with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.
During the ceremony, Ambassadors to the EU could also contemplate the exhibitions of the Institute of National Remembrance: "Extermination of European Jews" and "Poles saving Jews during World War II" presenting detailed information on the history of the Holocaust and the circumstances of different aspects of help and aid provided by Poles to the Jewish population at the time.
The International Holocaust Remembrance Day is a holiday established by the UN General Assembly to commemorate the victims of Nazi Germany murdered during World War II, and is marked on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau camp on 27 January.
We commemorated the #HolocaustRemembranceDay held on the anniversary of the liberation of the German concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
