Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting

Migration issues, the situation on the Greek-Turkish border and support for civil protection in response to the coronavirus pandemic were the main topics of the Justice and Home Affairs Council (JHA). Poland was represented by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the EU Andrzej Sadoś.

Representatives of member states were informed by the European Commission and the relevant EU agencies of the latest developments at the EU’s external borders with Turkey as well as on how the measures mentioned in the European Council’s statement from 2016 are being implemented. Council also exchanged views on the strategic guidelines for justice and home affairs. Over lunch, discussion on the coronavirus was focused on key lessons learnt so far in the tackling of the outbreak, EU civil protection mechanism and information sharing with use of the IPCR toolbox.
