"Poland is a key country not only when it comes to relations with our neighbors in Eastern Europe, but also when it comes to enlargement policy. These are issues that I deal with in the European Commission, and it is important for me to maintain Polish support for this policy" - said Commissioner Varhelyi during his media interview prior to the meeting.

The talks also focused on current topics of the EU political agenda related to, inter alia, the new EU budget for 2021-27 and the European Recovery Instrument.

Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi was the first representative of the European Commission to visit Poland since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
