Poland offers a helping hand to its neighbours and other Member States in need - solidarity in the time of COVID19.

As Europe braces for the COVID19 impact climax all national efforts are focusing on ensuring safety of citizens and mitigating the negative effects of the pandemic on the economy. In these challenging times Polish government was prompt to introduce preventive measures and take adequate actions allowing Poland to contain the virus relatively well. At the same time solidarity is being demonstrated every step of the way.
Poland have so far organized 322 repatriation flights, which allowed over 45 000 people to return home (including over 750 non – Polish EU citizens).
Citizens of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were offered ferries and dedicated trains to ensure their safe journey home. Additionally, Poland organized of 18 convoys of over 800 vehicles, all escorted by the Polish Police through Poland’s territory right to its northern border. All these actions allowed more than 2.000 citizens of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to safely and orderly return home.

Last but not least, Poland deployed 15 specialized doctors and medical rescue workers from the Military Institute of Medicine and the Polish Centre for International Aid to support local medics in Brescia (Lombardy) as this was identified by Italy as one of the most urgent need.
