Prime Minister Morawiecki: We have ensured more time for Poland to implement climate transformation

13.12.2019

Poland will be reaching climate neutrality at its own pace, in line with its objectives - said the head of the Polish government after the end of the first day of the European Council summit in Brussels. This solution will allow Poland to carry out the energy transformation in a safe and economically beneficial way.

PM's arrival

For the first time in almost 20 years, the conclusions of the European Council meeting created a special exception for one of the EU countries, which excludes the application of certain provisions of the conclusions. Our position is being listened to, we are a an effective player in the EU and once again the weight of our arguments convinced other EU partners to take such a position - said the PM.

European Union countries have come to an agreement on climate neutrality. Poland has been released from this obligation. As emphasized by Mateusz Morawiecki, we have established very good solutions for Poland, both from the financial and legislative side. The PM also noted that the entire process of achieving political neutrality will be supported by the Just Transformation Fund of about 100 billion EUR in the next MFF.

All Member States are well aware of the fact that some MS must receive more support than others, and the reference in the text to those most affected regions and countries proves that - concluded the Prime Minister.
