V4’s common stance on the EU Recovery Fund
12.06.2020
The summit of Visegrad Group leaders with the participation of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki concerned the position on the proposal of the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2021-27 and the European Recovery Fund. A meeting, which took place in Lednice, was the first personal of the V4 Group after a COVID-19 outbreak.
"The Recovery Fund must be a lever for development throughout Europe, taking into account the specificities of our region. It should be available on more flexible basis for local communities” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the summit of the heads of governments of the V4 countries. " We take the holistic approach to budget policy: MFF and Recovery Fund. We believe that cohesion and agricultural policies, supported by the recovery fund, can further contribute to rebuilding the EU economy after the COVID19 pandemic".
At the meeting, apart from budget policy, current EU affairs were also discussed, including challenges related to migration policy, border protection and restoration of free movement of people.
From July 1, Poland will take over the presidency of the Visegrad Group from the Czech Republic. The annual presidency will be concentrated on the reconstruction of economic and social life after the crisis.
