In this context, investments in the green transfition was discussed. Another step has been taken to bring the bloc closer to adopting a "new industrial strategy for Europe". The Commission confirmed its intention to update the New Industrial Strategy for Europe in order to take into account lessons learnt from the COVID-19 crisis, such as the need to reduce the EU’s dependence on external supply and demand in strategic sectors and materials, as well as to increase investment in the green and digital transition with regard to technological and digital innovation.

'If we want to rebuild national economies and thus strengthen the European economy, we must take into account the socio-economic differences between the Member States, and also reduce, not deepen, the existing disproportions', underlined Mr Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Development, Labour and Technology.

Poland expects to ensure fair conditions for transformation - especially with regard to energy-intensive industries and particularly when it comes to steel, cement and fertilizers - said Deputy PM Gowin.

Many ministers emphasised the relevance of a fully functioning single market, especially in the field of services, and a stable regulatory environment, notably for investments.
