Video conference of economics and finance ministers

Ministers exchanged views on the progress achieved on the implementation of measures to respond to the COVID-19 crisis at EU level. The European Commission and the European Central Bank (ECB) presented their assessment of the current situation. Poland was represented by Mr. Tadeusz Kościński, the Minister of Finance.

"Poland supports the presidency's priorities in the economic and financial matters" said Minister Kościński. "For us, activities in the tax area are particularly important, including a more effective fight against tax avoidance. In the latter scope it is important to strengthen administrative cooperation and therefore Poland supports acceleration of work based on recent European Commission proposals" the Minister added.

Ministers also discussed convergence reports prepared by the European Commission and the European Central Bank, and prepared the position for the upcoming G20 finance meeting and discussed progress on th ongoing international issues.

The Chair of the High Level Forum on the capital markets union (CMU) presented the forum's final report, published on 10 June. This report sets out 17 recommendations aimed at removing the biggest barriers in the EU's capital markets and increase European capital markets' competitiveness.
