Video conference of EU foreign ministers

The main topic of discussion of EU foreign ministers was the relations between the European Union and China, including the preparation of the EU-China summit scheduled for June. Poland was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz.
- The European Union must speak with one voice in its relationship with a partner as strong as China - said the chief of Poland's diplomacy. The EU ministers agreed the text of a statement expressing concern about China’s behaviour that undermines international commitments on Hong Kong’s status.
During the meeting, a discussion was also held on the situation in Afghanistan. Minister Czaputowicz underlined the importance of the EU’s involvement in efforts to stabilise the country’s political situation and improve its security. - We welcome the agreement reached by President Ashraf Ghani and President of the High Council of National Reconciliation Dr Abdullah Abdullah - said Minister Czaputowicz.
The Council of the EU adopted conclusions on Afghanistan, which reaffirm the EU’s support for the people of Afghanistan on their path towards peace, security and stability.
