Video conference of finance ministers

During the informal meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council, EU ministers exchanged views on the package of measures to tackle the COVID-19 crisis, and discussed the preparations the ground for a recovery fund to relaunch the EU economy. Poland was represented at the video conference by the Minister of Finance Tadeusz Kościński.

Among the EU criteria that have received the support of ministers is the proposal to establish the SURE instrument, a loan for the various measures to protect employees and jobs.

Ministers also adopted a statement which emphasized the importance of continuing bank lending and on maintaining a well-functioning insurance sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The schedule of this year's European Semester was also among the topics of the meeting.
