The member states presented their positions on the pact and the future of migration and asylum policy. Poland emphasized the importance of the balance between responsibility and solidarity -border protection and EU activity in the external dimension, including by helping migrants in countries of origin and transit. In line with the position of Poland, it is of key importance to strengthen the European Union's efforts to limit illegal migration and to increase the effectiveness of returns of third-country nationals.

Moreover, Bartosz Grodecki, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Interior and Administration, pointed to the need to introduce responsibility and control of the activities of non-governmental organizations in the Mediterranean. Illegal migrants transported by these organizations are disembarked only within the territory of the EU, which is a pull factor that increases the pressure on migration.

Ministers also discussed the development of a strategic European Police Partnership to strengthen police cooperation at the EU level.

The next Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting is scheduled for November 13 in Brussels.
