Video conference of the members of the European Council

The main topic of the meeting of EU leaders was the recovery fund that responded to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the proposal of the multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027. Poland was represented by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The head of Poland's government supported the package of the European Commission including the new recovery instrument and the proposal of multiannual financial framework (MFF) for 2021-2027, as a basis for further discussion. During the press conference after the leaders' meeting, Prime Minister Morawiecki emphasized the need for new own resources, which would come from e.g. an international corporation tax, as well as a tax on financial transactions.
One of the topics of the videoconference was also the state of negotiations of future relations between the European Union and the United Kingdom. Poland supported the mandate of the EU Chief Negotiator - Michel Barnier.
President of the European Council Charles Michel announced that the next summit of heads of state and government will take place in mid-July in Brussels.
