The main topic of the meeting of EU leaders including the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki was the coordination of the bloc's activities concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.

The leaders discussed in detail the vaccine distribution process, the implementation of national immunization programmes, and indicators for the effectiveness of the vaccination process. The project of a common approach on issuing vaccination certificates in the EU was also discussed.

During the meeting, the vaccination cooperation with third countries was also discussed.

In addition, EU leaders condemned the detention of the Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny in Moscow. An extended discussion on this issue is expected at the meeting of EU foreign ministers next Monday.

Before the meeting, a coordination videoconference of the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group countries took place.
