Legal foundation

The free aid system is regulated by the act from the 5th of August 2015 on free legal aid, citizens advice, and legal education, and by the Ordinance of the Minister of Justice from the 21st of January 2018 on free legal aid and citizens advice.

The act came into force on the 1st of January 2016. Its last modifications came into force on the 16th of January 2021. Its consolidated text is available in the Polish Journal of Law - Dz.U. from 2021 r. pos. 945. The ordinance came into force on the 1st of January 2019 and was published in the Polish Journal of Law – DZ.U. from 2018 r. pos. 2492. On the 1st of January 2022, a new ordinance came into force: that of the Minister of Justice from the 28th of December 2021, modifying the ordinance on free legal aid and citizens advice. The new ordinance is available in the Journal of Law – Dz.U z 2021 r. poz. 2500.

The document contains two attachments:

  • Affidavit confirming the inability to bear the cost of paid legal help;
  • Affidavit confirming, when appropriate, that the free legal aid was not granted by a lawyer or a law or tax advisor.

  • A filled in sample of the information form;
  • A filled in sample of part A and part B of the help form;
  • Area of the requested free legal aid or unpaid citizens advice;
  • A filled in sample confirming the granted unpaid legal help, citizens advice or legal education.
