Department of Environmental Project Implementation
The Department of Environmental Project Implementation (DEP) implements projects co-financed by the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment (OPI&E) and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as well as prepares applications for projects co-financed by the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021-2027 (FEnIKS) Programme.
The DEP is also responsible for the initiation and implementation of projects co-financed from other sources that aim to improve the state of the environment and the sustainable management of its resources. It conducts ongoing monitoring of European funds and national sources in the area of nature conservation, in terms of financing and co-financing opportunities for the statutory tasks of the GDEP and the Regional Directorates for Environmental Protection (RDEPs).
The tasks of the DEP also include maintaining a database of environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and strategic environmental assessments (SEAs) and providing opinions, documents and programmes under which projects can be implemented to improve the condition of the environment and to sustainably manage its resources.
Furthermore, the DEP performs tasks under the Act of 15 July 2011 on the National Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 2013), including maintaining the 'EMAS Register' of organisations registered under the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
