Barbara Szymanowska, Chargé d'affaires a.i.

Barbara Szymanowska is a career diplomat. She graduated from the University of Warsaw, majoring in Law. She also completed postgraduate studies in Management (Warsaw University) and European Studies (Sussex University, United Kingdom).
Barbara Szymanowska joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland in 2004 and was in charge of establishing Polish development cooperation system. In 2007-2009 she was Deputy Director of Development Cooperation Department. In 2010-2014 she held positions of Director of Development Cooperation Department and Director of Department for Implementation of Development Programmes. In 2021-2024 she held position of Director of Asia-Pacific Department, then again Director of Development Cooperation Department.
On March 17, 2025 she assumed the duties of Head of Mission/Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Republic of Poland in Jakarta.
In 2014-2018 Barbara Szymanowska served as Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In 2009-2010 she was posted to the Polish Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, and served as Political and Development Adviser to the Force Commander of the Polish Task Force in Ghazni Province within the NATO led the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
