The European Commission has informed that it has completed its analysis under the Article 7(1) TEU procedure, which has been conducted against Poland since 2017. This analysis is positive – the EC appreciated the legislative and non-legislative actions taken by Poland to address concerns related to, among others, the independence of judges.

Criminal liability of those responsible for crimes committed in Ukraine, UN activities for the protection of children's rights and the expansion of legal cooperation between the two countries – these were the main topics of today's (March 28, 2024) meeting between Polish Deputy Minister of Justice Arkadiusz Myrcha and Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Justice Andrii Haichenko.

The Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General, Adam Bodnar and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, Krzysztof Śmiszek met today (14 March) with the Vice-President of the European Commission, Věra Jourová, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice. The talks focused on the actions of the Polish government to restore the rule of law.

Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar took part in a forum organized by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).

Completion of negotiations on the agreement on the execution of judgments of the International Criminal Court, awarding the President of the ICC Professor Piotr Hofmański with the "Bene Merito" honorary badge, and a meeting with Polish students – these were the most important points of the visit that the Minister of Justice Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar and Secretary of State Krzysztof Śmiszek held today (March 7) in The Hague.

A meeting of the Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar with Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, took place today (March 4, 2024) at the Ministry of Justice. The talks focused on various aspects of the current and future cooperation of the new Polish government with the Council of Europe, as well as on building mechanisms to restore the rule of law in Poland. The Russian aggression against Ukraine was also discussed.

Minister of Justice, Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar took part in the conference "United for justice. United for Heritage.” Undersecretary of State Maria Ejchart, who accompanied him, held several meetings regarding the prison system.

The European Commission decided to confirm Poland's participation in the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO). The EPPO will investigate crimes affecting the financial interests of the Union committed in Poland after June 1, 2021.

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, the European Commission issued a positive assessment of Poland's first application for payments from the recovery package. This means that Poland will be paid €6.3 billion (approx. PLN 28.8 billion) in the first tranche under the NRP. The funds are expected to reach Poland in the coming weeks.

"We are united by the well-being of children, so we should cooperate on introducing systemic changes in international family disputes," said Deputy Minister Zuzanna Rudzińska-Bluszcz during today's (February 28) meeting with representatives of diplomatic missions. The meeting was devoted to cross-border family proceedings. The Minister stressed that the talks organized at the Ministry of Justice show the Ministry's openness to cooperation with its counterparts in other countries.
