Małgorzata Szafoni - Vice-President of the Management Board
Małgorzata Szafoni is a graduate of the Faculty of Management at the Poznań University of Economics, majoring in International Relations in European Studies. She completed doctoral studies at the Collegium of World Economy at the Warsaw School of Economics and obtained her doctoral degree in the discipline of economics and finance. In addition, she is a graduate of postgraduate studies in taxation and foreign service, she has completed courses and trainings i.a. in the areas of public finance management, human resources management and project management. She is a certified ICC coach and team coach.
With over 20 years of experience, she is a manager who manages processes, projects and changes in organizations. She is also an expert in strategic management. Małgorzata Szafoni uses her knowledge and experience in the field of organization and management, public affairs and regulations, budget and finance management, building and motivating teams as well as public relations. Since the beginning of her professional and scientific career, she has also been involved in public finance management and European Union issues. She has many years of experience working in the public and private sector as well as, cooperating with non-governmental organizations, academic centers and international organizations (EU, OECD, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, IOTA),– as a member of national structures, international projects and programmes, advisor to executives in organization, representative in parliamentary and legislative work, representative and speaker/trainer at national and international forums as well as, analyst, academic lecturer, author and co-author of publications.
From 2002 to 2016, she worked in the following Polish public administration units: the Poznań-Winogrady Tax Office, the Tax Chamber in Poznań – Tax Information Exchange Office, the Ministry of Finance as well as the Office of the Committee for European Integration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from 2006 to 2016 as an nominated civil servant.
Major projects in public administration include: in connection with Poland's accession to the European Union in 2004 – organization of the central liaison office (CLO) for cooperation and exchange of information with foreign tax administrations, the organization of the first Polish Presidency of the EU Council (2011), as well as projects concerning transformation and development of the Polish tax administration in order to increase its effectiveness and efficiency and to make it more customer-oriented.
Since 2016, she has expanded the scope of her activities to include the private sector, cooperating with companies and non-governmental institutions. Since 2004, she has been carrying out tasks in managerial positions of organizations and projects, including those related to public finance management (also management of funds from foreign sources), as well as corporate finances.
In 2012, she was awarded the Bronze Cross of Merit by the President of the Republic of Poland for her contribution to European integration and building civil society. In 2015, she was awarded the Silver Badge of Honour by the Minister of Finance for her services to the Treasury of the Republic of Poland.
