83th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II

On 1 September 2022, to mark the 83th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, representatives of the Polish Embassy in Oslo: Ambassador Iwona Woicka-Żuławska, Defence Attaché Col Waldemar Torbicki, and Consul Agnieszka Kucińska-Spyrka laid a wreath at the Polish war grave at the Vestre Gravlund cemetery in Oslo to honour Polish soldiers who died during World War II.

83. anniversary

Polish diplomats were joined by members of the Polish community in Norway: Polish scouts Maria, Luiza and Victoria with Chief Scout Marta Radwańska and teachers from the Polish School in Oslo, named after the Heroes of Narvik with their Head Teacher Iwona Prokop.

Ambassador Iwona Woicka-Żuławska emphasized how important it is for young people to remember Europe’s troubled history. She thanked Polish scouts for their commitment and patriotic spirit. She praised teachers’ great effort to teach Poland’s history. She also mentioned the war in Ukraine and reminded how important it is for Poland and Norway to understand each other and have good relations.
